From being stuck at home, dealing with stress, and trying out the most trending trends to getting scared every-time as the number of cases increased, this year will be a year we’ll never be able to forget. Despite the number of jokes that are cracked about this novel virus, this year has been no joke. Who thought the virus that began in Wuhan would take over the world and bring us down on our knees!
Everything changed drastically this year. Some people lost their loved ones, their livelihoods, etc. The world came to a halt for some time. No more venturing out, only staying at home and stepping out only when unavoidable. However, like always, humans found a solution in the darkest of times- Social distancing, sanitizing and wearing a mask became a must and we also went virtual.
On the bright side though, we all learnt several valuable lessons this year, without which we would have lost in the game of life.(Too cheesy?)
When the year began online school was brought into picture. As fun as it may sound, believe me when I say it’s NOT! It was hard to cope up with all the new practices and features. Eventually when we did get the hang of it, we were given several projects to work on along side the usual H.W. we get. However it wasn’t easy for the teachers either as they had to prepare PPTs, questionares, and what not while teaching us. It has been a tough year and we are fortunate enough to be able to sail through this year. However, it was faith that drove this year ahead. If you see, it was faith in the parents and the students that drove the schools to conduct online exams, it was faith in the students that they won’t take advantage of technology for not completing their work, etc.
Along side our educational and work life, the pandemic has affected our personal life too. It has gotten our creative and spiritual juices flowing by giving us ample amount of idle time. We were finally able to pursue our hobbies and find ourselves in this rushed world. We all have also spent quite a lot of quality time with our family and made memories which will last for a life time. I, personally, have learnt to manage my emotions well & deal with stress, pursue my hobby(s), have bonded more with my family and made better friends this year, who will hopefully stick with me forever after.
This year also taught, more like reminded, me that the toughest situations bring out the best in me, actually in all of us. It proved that it’s not just a catchy quote. This year fitness took precidence. Even a partial couch potato like me started excercising just out of fear of catching the virus. The pandemic helped us become fit, both mentally and physically. It has taught us that in order to survive we need to adapt. We were also forced to stay up-to date with the latest happenings from around the world. It has made us more vigilant and cautious. Adding to which we have also inculcated several good practices in order to stay safe and healthy.
I also wanted too thank y’all to for sticking around and reading my blog every once in a while this entire year. I really appreciate it.
I wish I wake up on the 1st of January 2021 to realise that all of 2020 was just a nightmare! But that’s not possible; so until then…
Wish you all a year full of joy and may your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions. Happy New Year!
Yours in excitement,
Sameeksha
