The clouds rumbled, the wind roared, as the leaves danced to the tunes of the wind, on the cinnamon colored day. I gazed out of my window, looking at the sepia photo like scenery. All of a sudden, the clouds stopped rumbling, the wind stopped roaring, the trees stopped their subtle dance, there was a sudden pause, as though someone important was going to enter the room. Hand under my chin, I sat at my desk waiting, with my fellow friends from nature, for a summer shower to be blessed upon us. Then, a drop rushed down all of a sudden, breaking the silence that surrounded me.
Following it there was a free falling short summer shower, with the raindrops pitter-pattering. Mother earth had soaked in every drop, and quenched her thirst! The air was filled with an earthy aroma. A smell that I have a fondness for as a Pluviophile. I greedily took in all the air I could, breath after breath, until I couldn’t any longer and sighed in distress.
The weather was pleasant and perfect, neither too hot nor too cold; like Goldilocks once said “just right”! The rain drops slided down the leaves, leaving them clean and green. All of nature’s little beings emerged out of their hidings to enjoy it. A smile lit up my face, a smile that didn’t fade away quickly. The odd joy you feel can’t be equated or even compared to anything else!
However gradually, the sun rays came through, kids emerged from their houses, I went back to doing my chores and everything went back to the way it was. But the puddles were still stagnant there, the earthy aroma lingered in the air and me & my fellow friends from nature will keep in account this short yet sightly summer shower.
Yours mesmerized,
